Every Miele cooker hood is tested in accordance with current European standards. The air throughput and sound emission data given in the product overviews are representative and comparative values. Miele is a member of CECED* (European Association of Household Appliance Manufacturers). All members have signed a voluntary agreement to measure air and sound performance values in accordance with relevant European standards and to only publish these figures in their sales literature. This transparency ensures that customers receive reliable performance data.
External fans
Combining a vented hood with an external motor * will help keep noise levels in the kitchen to a minimum. In this case, the fan is not installed in the hood, as usual, but example, on an outside wall, for instance. For a significant reduction in noise levels, the ducting system should be at least 5-7 m long. The fan and cooker hood are connected by a control wire. To implement this solution, Miele offers fan units for installation on an outside wall, inside masonry or in an attic.
Silencers - for extra quietness
Many Miele cooker hoods have highly efficient sound proofing as standard which make them very quiet in operation. Should you wish to have an even quieter working environment, the Miele DASD 150 silencer is available as an optional accessory. It will reduce noise levels by up to 4.5 dB(A) re1pW. It even provides versatile options. It is suitable for use in vented as well as recirculation mode.
Wall vent
A wall vent kit can be installed in an outside wall so that the air can be vented to outside the building. Thermal bridges may occur in conventional wall vents, causing energy losses. For example, in winter cold air can enter the ducting.
Flexible vent ducting
Vent ducting expels odours, moisture and heat to outside the house. The diameter and the materials used in vent ducting have a significant impact on air throughput. Smooth round ducting or special ducting with a rectangular cross-section where the diameter is not reduced, are most suitable. As a rule, Miele recommends a diameter of 150 mm. For hoods with a high extraction performance, a diameter of 200 mm is customary. Miele offers flexible aluminium ducting with shallow corrugation. The DAS 150 and DAS 200 flexible aluminium ducting with a diameter of 150 and 200 mm fulfil the B1 requirements for fire prevention regulation. The extra shallow corrugation reduces air friction.
